Acupuncture originates from the Far East and is nowadays recognised as one of the leading natural therapies available providing an effective solution for many conditions. Acupuncture is typically painless and patients often report a great sense of relaxation during and after the treatment.
During a consultation at Physio & More our therapist will do a full medical history and accordingly select their acupuncture points. The therapist will then insert several very fine single use sterile needles which will be left in position for between 15-30 minutes.
Acupuncture treatment is based on the theory that a healthy body is governed by the flow of energy, known as ‘qi’. The flow of qi can be disrupted in many ways: emotional upset, physical trauma, poor diet and stress are all common examples. By inserting fine needles at various points, it is hypothesised that the balance can be restored and pain or illness resolved.
